The Perfect Breakfast For Postpartum Moms

  • 2 min read

Here is what I am eating every morning as a postpartum mom to start the day with good energy, mood, blood sugar regulation, nervous system regulation and more!

  1. iced matcha with collagen

  2. sourdough toast with butter (I will sometimes swap this for organic protein cereal)

  3. breakfast sausage (I swap between this and 3/4 pasture raised eggs)

  4. fiber pudding

This breakfast is approximately 45g of protein, 10g of fiber, 35g of healthy fats, and 20g of carbs.

A note on our sausage: I get Amylu's breakfast sausage patties and links from Costco most of the time. We also frequently get breakfast sausage and bacon from Wild Pastures (use my link and get 20% off for life and $15 off first box!). Wondering what my thoughts are on "processed" meats and nitrates? See this Instagram post!

Here are my recipes for fiber pudding, iced matcha, and psyllium jelly to go in my fiber pudding.

Fiber Pudding:

1 can organic coconut milk (I like the Native Forest Simple one because it is gum free)

3 Tbsp organic chia seeds

2 Tbsp basil seeds

1 Tbsp maple syrup

Combine all ingredients, let sit for 20-30 mins until thickened. Makes 3 servings.

Iced Matcha:

1 serving of Pique matcha

1 scoop Needed Collagen powder (code KRISTENV)

1 tsp maple syrup

1/2tsp organic vanilla extract

8oz milk of choice (I use Malk Almond milk)

Ice

Add 2 Tbsp hot water to a glass. Add matcha powder and collagen, and use a handheld frother to mix well. Add maple syrup and vanilla, mix. Add milk and ice. Enjoy!

Psyllium Jelly:

1/3C tart cherry juice

2 Tbsp organic psyllium husk powder

1 tsp maple syrup (optional)

Combine all, mix well, let sit for 10 minutes until thickened.
